This year we were lucky enough to spend Thanksgiving with my Mom's whole family. We had it the weekend before Thanksgiving because we were using it as a ploy to throw Uncle Arby a surprise birthday party. It worked like a charm, he had now idea. As you all know there are not to many places to stay in Junction or Circleville and when you have a large crowd like ours you don't want to just crash at some ones house. (We had over 75 people at Thanksgiving dinner and more at the party) So we rented the old Courthouse in Junction. It was so much fun. We had a very busy weekend and I wish we would have had one more day to just relax and enjoy each other's company.
This is the room My family stayed in it also had a couch and a bathroom.
Most of the rooms still have Vaults in them. The are now used as closets. The vaults freaked out a few of the younger kids. The Kitchen pantry is a huge vault. ( I would love to have that as my pantry.
This is the room Grandma and Grandpa stayed in. This was the first night they had stayed in the same bed in years. (they live in a care center and have separate beds) All my aunts and uncles were worried they might get a new sibling in a few months. ;) ;) ;)
This is were you would have walked in to the old courthouse in its hay day.
This is a little setting area. We tried to build a fire but the wood was to big for the fire places.
Through out the whole building they have antiques. Of course my battery went dead and I didn't have the charger. (Tempe had the same camera as I did so I always reallied on her to have her charger and now she has a new camera so I am just outta luck.)
Up stairs were the courtroom has been turned in to a game room with air hockey, Foosball, a TV, a piano, fire place, lots of sofa's and chairs. They even kept the old judges bench and a gavel and judges robe. It was fun to see the Gleave boys holding court, it did get a little crazy in the court room.
The old holding tank is now a bunk room, they have a library and four other bedrooms upstairs. It was so much fun. I think we are going to try and go back next year for Thanksgiving.
